FORMPIPE SOFTWARE

Transforming a complex software and services organisation into a scalable, profitable business and enabling a successful exit for investors

Overview

A Nordic enterprise software provider specialising in case, document, and information management, serving both public‑sector and private enterprises through two units: Formpipe Public Sector and Private Sector. Its solutions focused on enabling secure handling of documents and workflows such as case management, archiving, and customer communications across regulated government bodies and commercial industries, including life science, healthcare, banking and utilities.

The board needed to separate the two distinct parts of the Formpipe business to maximise overall value. Private Sector had to be reshaped into a focused, standalone software company with strong financial fundamentals and a clear growth story.

The Private Sector business was successfully separated into a profitable, standalone business in late 2025 and sold to its new owners in 2026, enabling the board’s planned exit strategy to be completed.

challenge

The business was operationally complex:

A broad and diluted product portfolio from historical acquisitions

Cost structures not aligned to growth

Delivery models limiting scalability

The goal was not just improvement; my responsibility was to create a business that could:

Scale efficiently

Attract investor confidence

Deliver sustainable long-term value

APPROACH

My focus and responsibilities were simplifying the business and strengthening fundamentals.

Rationalised product portfolio by retiring and divesting non-strategic solutions

Redesigned the operating model to improve efficiency and reduce cost

Shifted delivery to a partner-led and self-service model to increase scalability

Built internal capability to improve quality, improve control, and increase profitability

Led cultural and behavioural change to improve accountability and execution

Strengthened governance and operational discipline to support investment readiness

Throughout, my emphasis was on building and developing a leadership team that were capable and empowered to drive and sustain the transformation and outcomes.
